Wisdom Writing - Anger

As part of a Wisdom Writing exercise - writing that releases all structure and introduces different, benign, fun, or triggering content - I chose to write about anger.
Around the holidays, whether you are an empath or not, you can feel the intensity of emotions rise. From heightened energy when driving, shopping, attending church, or friend and family festivities, we can feel the shift even within ourselves.
So don't be surprised if another emotion shows up as a Wisdom Writing prompt before the season is over. :)
No doubt you can write volumes about any emotion, but I encourage you to take a moment and sit with the emotion of anger. If this topic raises discomfort within you, see if you can step into that discomfort and find out why.
Objectively speaking, anger can be useful in highlighting an injustice, or it can be protective in hiding a fear.
As you write, see if you feel anger in a specific part of your body. If you do - write about that part of your body - what's bottled up there, physically or emotionally? Why do you think anger resides there? Does the anger sensation move to different parts of your body?
I found a few gems in my writing. Anger:
chases away complacency
if not addressed, turns inward becoming a hinderance to living
highlights conscious and unconscious avoidance
moves people forward on a specific path, often in a positive light
I've also learned that the more you make friends with anger, the less time you spend being angry and the more time you spend making productive changes or reaching a resolution or a specific understanding.
While anger initially takes you further from your joy, if you meet with anger and talk with it, the anger can take you closer to that joy and contentment in a roundabout sort of way, if we give it a chance.
Emotions are there for a reason. What you do with them and how you grow with them is part of life experiences.
